Welcome to the new and improved alandmurray.com!

Welcome to alandmurray.com and thanks for dropping by.

So much time has passed and so much has happened in the few years since alandmurray.com was last active. On a professional level, I have spent the last 4 years working in various I.T. roles for Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Government).

I don’t want to risk turning what I hope to be a standard news page into a blog so I will stay pertinent, jump straight in and let you know about the new and improved alandmurray.com.

The new website reflects the new services I offer and the new approach I am now taking in the world of freelancing. I now offer my services in the cross-discipline multimedia areas of web design, graphic design, music and digital photography. Those who have previously known me through my web and graphic design work alone may be surprised to discover that I also write and record my own music in my home project studio. Whilst working on my own music projects for the last 4-5 years under various monikers, I have accumulated a wealth of music sketches the majority of which can be adapted into jingles for TV, radio and online advertising. I am now taking commissions from clients for whom I will write, perform, record and produce original music. See my music page for more information and to check out my sample showcase.

So, it’s a pretty exciting time for me.  My return to alandmurray.com was not an easy decision to make at first, but eventually became a no-brainer. Since then, good things have been coming my way in the form of exciting, challenging work which has re-emphasised my need for creativity on a daily basis. Creating art, music and cool websites for a living? It’s all good.

I have to say thanks to my current and past clients without whom this would not be possible.  Specially those who have persisted in offering me exciting work over the last 4 years, only to have me turn it down due to lack of time. The carrot they kept dangling in front of me has now been bitten…hard! The current work I will be doing for these clients has ensured I am hitting the freelance ground running and more inspired than ever.

Thanks and best wishes to my ex-colleagues in the I.T. Applications section and other ex-colleagues of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. Also those family and friends who offered their support and encouragement regarding my return to the freelance world.

I hope you like what you see and hear on my new website. It’s still a work in progress and has only scratched the surface of what’s to come…

Thanks
- Al
