Music
I am a multi-instrumentalist with skills in guitar, bass, programming, keyboards, synthesizers and vocals. Styles of music I have written/performed/recorded include electronica, pop, dance, rock, folk, jazz, country, ambient, punk, metal and hardcore. I am also actively involved in my own original music projects under various monikers.
The Studio
Music for Advertising
From my home project studio I have the ability to compose, perform, record and produce music in a variety of genres for use in TV, radio and online advertising campaigns. These jingles can range in duration from 30 seconds to a few minutes.
Soundtrack Music
I also have the ability to compose soundtrack music in a variety of genres and styles for use in documentaries, TV and film.
Process
As with most of my work, my process varies depending on the project.
1. Learning
I will learn about your product/service and try to understand what you’re about.
2. Discussion
We will discuss the intent behind the project you require music for and roughly what genre/feel/mood you are aiming for.
3. Proposal
Taking what I’ve learned in the previous steps, I will put together a proposal which will address your requirements. If you are happy to go with it, we will start working together.
4. Writing
I will write music according to what we have previously discussed. This step will normally involve you providing me with the video footage or text narrative that will accompany the music. For longer scores, this step will require a rough cut of the footage, which is as close to the finished video as possible.
5. Samples
I will provide you with samples of music I have recorded in mp3 format for you to evaluate.
6. Iteration
You will provide me with feedback on the samples I have provided to you in the previous step. I will then make adjustments, provide you with more samples and so on until you are happy.
7. Finalise
At this point you have the options to either have your track mixed and mastered by me or to take care of this yourself. I will provide you with high quality .wav files of the song’s individual stems in either 24-bit or 16-bit format.
I can also arrange to have your tracks mastered by Denis Blackham of Skye Mastering. I highly recommend Denis, he has performed world-class mastering for clients such as: The Who, Bee Gees, Brian Eno & David Byrne, Pete Townshend, Otis Redding, Crosby Stills, Nash & Young, Black Sabbath, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Robert Plant, Antony & the Johnsons, Rod Stewart, Elvis Costello, Dolly Parton, Tears for Fears, Mike Oldfield, Thin Lizzy, Buzzcocks, Bing Crosby, T-Rex, Jimi Hendrix and many, many more…
Once the track has been approved and sent to you, then our contract has been fulfilled. You will then take ownership of it. Your own copyrights will then apply.
